FAQ

Scientific computing is traditionally viewed as the province of continuous mathematics, of differential equations and linear algebra. Many combinatorial subproblems, however, arise in the solution of scientific computing problems. Combinatorial scientific computing, a label for interdisciplinary research involving discrete mathematics in scientific computing, refers to the development, analysis, and application of combinatorial algorithms to solve problems in computational science and engineering.
