Alexandra Le Contellec


I am a PhD student at the Laboratoire de Géologie de Lyon (LGL-TPE, ENS Lyon) under the supervision of Chloé Michaut.
I am interested in magma ascent through planetary crust below impact craters, particularly in the case of dark-floored craters located in the Highlands of Venus as well as floor-fractured craters of the Moon and Mars. Do to so, I study the impact on magma propation in the crust of the stress field generated by the crater (unloading) using  magma propagation models in collaboration with Francesco Maccaferri and Virginie Pinel. The aim of this study is to constrain parameters of the crust such as its thickness or density.
