First Myrinet User Group Conference
Lyon, France -- 28-29th September 2000
Accomodations
"Lyon, the natural crossroads between northern Europe and the
Mediterranean coast, is located in the heart of the Rhone-Alpes
region, an area of greatly contrasted topography with the Alps to the
east, the Massif Central plateau to the west, and the Saone-Rhone
valley sweeping down the middle. Lyon is France's second city, and in
its quiet, unassertive way, it is truly one of the great cities of
Europe, with a visible history spanning 2,000 years, a Renaissance old
quarter, a clutch of outstanding museums, two scenic rivers, one of
the largest and most beguiling parks in Europe, and a lively arts
scene."
The conference will be held at the Lyon Convention Center located
between a secular park and the river Rhone, 5 minutes from the city
centre and 20 minutes from Lyon Satolas airport. It is a part of the
"Cite Internationale", a new district of Lyon designed by the famous
Italian architect Renzo Piano, with its cinemas, museum, offices,
restaurants and the Lyon Hilton with casino.
Lyon gathers over more than 10.000 hotel rooms in different kinds of
accommodation. The sixth district (Lyon 6eme) is the nearest location
for accomodation since the Cite Internationale is near the Tete d'Or park.
A list of accomodation sorted by district can be found here. The Hilton is by far the nearest (50 meters from the Conference Center!) but is also one of the most expensive. More affordable hotels can be found in the sixth district.
