Short bio

Dr. Jean-Patrick Gelas received his graduate degree (DEA) in Computer Science at École Normale Supérieure de Lyon (ENS Lyon, France) in 2000. Awarded a national grant from the French Ministry of Research and Technology (MENRT), he pursued his doctorate research/work in a INRIA team (called RESO) of the LIP laboratory at ENS Lyon. In December 2003, he received his Ph.D. degree from Universite Claude Bernard - Lyon 1 (France). He spent the next year in the United States, holding a postdoctoral (Research Associate) position in the Logistical Computing and Internetworking (LoCI) Laboratory of Computer Science Department at University of Tennessee.

He is currently Assistant Professor, teaching computer science (system, long distance networks and embedded system) in the Université de Lyon and doing his research work in ENS Lyon (INRIA Avalon team/LIP laboratory). The research interest of Dr. Jean-Patrick Gelas centers on energy aware system in large scale distributed systems (i.e. Grid and Cloud) context, next generation networks (such as Logistical Networks and Autonomic system). He has also strong interest in virtualization technologies and open source operating systems.
