Twin boundaries in non-centrosymmetric superconductors

In this project, we study twin boundaries that can occur in non-centrosymmetric superconductors such as CePt3Si. In the thesis, we discuss the appearance of fractional vortices at those boundaries. In the paper, ignoring the appearance of such vortices, we discuss more generally the effect of twin boundaries on the upper and lower critical fields in such noncentrosymmetric materials. The main findings are the existence of different types of twin boundaries, with opposite experimental consequences, and the role of the twin boundaries for experimental signatures of the helical phase in noncentrosymmetric superconductors.
